The ACF Annual Visionary Scholarship Program provides a variety of scholarships, starting at $1,000 and culminating with a $5,000 grand prize. Applicants must be high school Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are US citizens or qualified non-citizens. All income levels are welcome to apply; financial necessity is not taken into account.

Application Criteria for Annual Visionary Scholarship in USA


At the time of submission, all components of the application must be received in their whole. A partial and/or incomplete application will not be notified to the applicant. The following items will be included in all Visionary Scholarship Program applications submitted to the American College Foundation:

  • Completed ACF Visionary Scholarship Application
  • Student’s most recent unofficial high school transcript
  • 500-word essay on “Why College is Important to Me”

Status of the Application:

All grant winners will be determined by the ACF Scholarship Committee, which has ultimate say. Selected recipients agree to have their application and award information, including essay, photo, name, state, high school grade level, and prize amount, acknowledged on the American College Foundation website and related publications.

The American College Foundation becomes the exclusive owner of all application packages submitted. No contact regarding the status of a submitted application packet's reception, screening, verification, or judgment will be entertained. Once an application packet has been received, it cannot be changed or augmented.

Specifics of the Award:

Each grant is a one-time, non-renewable award provided directly to the school to cover costs and fees directly linked to the student's first year of higher post-secondary education at an approved institution of the student's choice inside the United States.

If an underclassman receives an award, the funds will be kept by the American College Foundation until the student graduates from high school and begins his or her postsecondary studies. The American College Foundation does not make any distinctions based on race, color, sex, religion, country origin, or handicap.
