About Ron Brown:

The Ron Brown Scholar Program (RBSP), founded in 1996 by the CAP Charitable Foundation, honors the late Secretary of Commerce Ronald H. Brown's legacy through a selective, multilevel scholarship and leadership program that focuses on academic achievement, community service, and career immersion for African American college bound high school seniors.

The RBSP is committed to improve the lives of young African Americans by empowering and assisting them to reach their full potential in academics and in the workforce.

Scholars at the RBSP graduate from college at a rate of 99 percent. In addition, the RBSP has produced unique patterns of career success and accomplishments for 489 African American youth, who are now leaders, creators, and transformers on their college campuses and in their chosen careers and professions, all while remaining committed to making a difference in other people's lives.

Many graduating Scholars pursue professional degrees in law, medicine, and business, while many more seek great careers in the arts, sciences, and public service.

Ron Brown Scholars have access to a safety net of high-touch mentorship and coaching from dedicated staff who act as an extended family for the Scholars, ensuring their success in college and beyond.
