The Daniels Scholarship Program allows highly motivated students to acquire a bachelor's degree, allowing them to pursue a successful profession and a fulfilling life. Daniels Scholars® are people of extraordinary integrity, leadership, and service to their communities.

The Daniels Program Program is a four-year college scholarship that offers financial and personal assistance to Daniels Scholars in order to help them thrive in college and in life. Any recognized nonprofit institution or university in the United States can accept the Daniels Scholarship.

Our objective is to ensure that Daniels Scholars not only excel in college, but also flourish when they graduate.

Every year, Daniels Scholars are chosen from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, which make up our four-state area. More than 400 schools and universities in 48 states have hosted Daniels Scholars.

The Daniels Scholarship Program has awarded over $220 million in undergraduate scholarships to over 4,600 students until March 2021.

Selection Criteria for The Daniels Scholarship Program in USA


Bill Daniels was a cable television pioneer recognized for his steadfast dedication to ethics and honesty, as well as his compassion for people in need. Bill adored the United States of America. He served in two wars to protect our nation and the liberties we have today. Bill Daniels was also a strong supporter of the free market system, which he thought offered the best chance for individuals to improve their lives.

Daniels Scholars are chosen based on the criteria set out by Bill Daniels for the program:

  1. Character Strength Potential for leadership Commitment to serving their communities
  2. Academic achievement or promise
  3. Emotional stability and maturity

Bill Daniels would also want his students to preserve the principles that he held dear. Ethics and integrity, honesty, respect for others, loyalty and trustworthiness, entrepreneurial spirit, patriotism and community service, devotion to excellence, and etiquette are among these principles.

Application Criteria for The Daniels Scholarship Program in USA


To be eligible for the Daniels Scholarship Program, students must meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Be a high school senior graduating from a school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming
  • Be a resident of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Earn a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 in high school (on an unweighted 4.0 scale)
  • Earn a minimum SAT Math score of 490 and a minimum Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of 490, or a minimum ACT score of 18 in each category (writing score not required). Super scoring is not accepted.
    • For students who were unable to take the SAT or ACT due to COVID-19 cancellations, they are eligible to apply with a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.3 in high school (on an unweighted 4.0 scale), and do not need to provide standardized test scores.

Financial Eligibility Details:

In order to be eligible for the Daniels Scholarship Program, the applicant’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $85,000 or less on the 2019 Form 1040 U.S. Individual Income Tax Return on which the applicant appears as a dependent.

If there are additional dependents, beyond the applicant, claimed on their 2019 tax return, we allow for additional income as follows:

  • $5,000 for each additional dependent not in college
  • $15,000 for each additional dependent in college full time during the 2020/2021 academic year

The Daniels Scholarship is a full-fledged college scholarship that covers the following expenses:

  4. Expenses associated with your education that aren't listed elsewhere

The Daniels Scholarship Program offers a four-year college scholarship that is tailored to each student's needs and based on their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and school preference.

After taking into account the student's EFC, other scholarships, and financial assistance, the scholarship provides up to $25,000 per year toward the student's unmet need. Any accredited institution or university in the United States is open to Daniels Scholars.

How can you spend the money?

Daniels Scholars are eligible to attend any authorized two- or four-year nonprofit college or university in the United States. Scholars must plan to obtain a bachelor's degree, and those who begin at a two-year college must be on track to transfer to a four-year college and achieve a bachelor's degree.

Technical and vocational schools, as well as certificate programs, are not eligible for Daniels Scholarships.
