Program Overview for Master of Resource & Environmental Management in Canada:

The MREM is a full-time 16-month course-based program that’s designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to pursue a career in natural resource and environmental management.

With a curriculum that combines coursework, an internship and a project report, you’ll build a well-rounded combination of knowledge and experience that will serve you well in your future career.

The eligibility for Master of Resource & Environmental Management in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

  • Honours 4-year Bachelor Degree or equivalent (e.g. substantive independent project work)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (B average) in the last two years or equivalent. Average successful applicant GPA is 3.3 (B+)
  • If your first language is not English you must provide proof of English language proficiency from a standard language test, such as TOEFL (minimum score of 92 for the internet-based test); MELAB (90 minimum score) or IELTS (7.5 minimum score). May not be required in some cases.

The major source of income for MREM students is the paid internship. Several organizations offer money that can be used to subsidize internship placements. Securing funding from a third party can help to top up the salary that your host organization offers.

Making them aware of these opportunities could help to secure an internship. Other funding opportunities are also available.
