Civil Engineering department has a long and prestigious history, graduate program has helped hundreds of students cement the necessary engineering skills to plan, design and manage the essential infrastructure of modern society.

From highways and bridges to water treatment plants and energy-efficient buildings, UNB provides our graduates with a solid foundation to build exciting careers with consulting engineering companies, NGOs, provincial and federal government agencies, and academic and research organizations around the world.

The program generally has between 40 and 60 graduate students conducting research in all the major sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. MEng students often complete their program on a part-time basis.

  2. All applicants should hold an undergraduate degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.3 (B average, or upper second class standing). PhD applicants typically hold a Master’s degree from an accredited university.
  3. Applicants are required to submit an application, including a statement describing their research interests.
  4. International applicants whose first language is not English must submit language scores that meet or exceed:
    • International English language testing system (IELTS) = Band 7.5
    • Paper-based TOEFL = 580
    • Internet-based TOEFL = 92
    • Michigan test = 85%
  5. International applicants: Include a copy of your GRE results if you have completed the exam. GRE results are required for applicants applying for the Construction Engineering Management area.
