The Master of Applied Human Nutrition and Master of Applied Human Nutrition provides students with opportunities for advanced nutrition research, focusing on community nutrition, food, and human nutrition. These programs explore the theoretical basis of nutrition through critical reflection on current research and practice in the discipline and by borrowing from other related disciplines. The Master's Degree in Applied Human Nutrition consists of three and a half units of courses and one and a half units of thesis research. The Master of Applied Human Nutrition consists of five modules.
Students who wish to register as a professional dietitian and meet the Dietetic Education and Practice Association (PDEP) can also apply for the internship education program when applying for the Master of Applied Human Nutrition or the Master of Applied Human Nutrition. Applied human nutrition. The internship education program enables students to develop theoretical knowledge and internship experience to meet PDEP requirements to achieve entry-level professional dietary proficiency.
Students who do not want to register as professional dietitians can apply for the food and nutrition internship program in the Master of Applied Human Nutrition or Master of Applied Human Nutrition.

Students normally have completed an undergraduate degree in nutrition, dietetics, foods, or related fields, e.g., health sciences, kinesiology, biology, biochemistry, health promotion/education, and nursing. Students will normally have achieved a minimum of a B average (GPA 3.0). Credit in the following undergraduate courses will normally be required: applied statistics; biochemistry; physiology; sociology, psychology or communications; and 3000 or 4000 levels of human nutrition. Where there are deficiencies, additional undergraduate coursework (achieving a minimum grade of B) may be necessary to advance graduate study.

Statement of Intent including career goals and how our program will facilitate achieving these goals
Completed application for MAHN and MScAHN with or without Internship should be submitted by January 31 of the year immediately preceding intended enrolment. Applications are considered by the Applied Human Nutrition Graduate Studies Committee, and additionally for those applying to the Internship, the Internship Selection Committee. Normally, there is no January admission to the program. We reserve the right to interview applicants before acceptance.
*The purpose of the two-page research proposal is to assess the applicants' research potential and writing skills. Alternatively, applicants may submit a two-page description of their research interests, including references. Due to the limited number of students that AHN faculty members can supervise, the applicants for the MScAHN program are strongly advised to contact in advance and identify their potential thesis supervisor(s) in their Statement of Intent; however, those applications in which the supervisor is not identified will be considered as well.

Both domestic and international students in thesis-based and course-based programs are eligible to receive some of our many internal scholarships.To be eligible to receive most internal scholarships, graduate students must be enrolled full-time, though some are offered to both full-time and part-time students.
