Program Overview for Master of Science in Forensic Science in Canada:

Develop critical thinking, leadership and communication skills and apply them all to a future in forensics.

Prepare yourself for a position in an exciting field, where you can contribute to, and improve the legal system through an enhanced understanding of: forensic science applications, scientific data interpretation, and the communication of science in a legal context.

The program builds on Trent’s leadership in many areas of forensic science such as law, bloodstain pattern analysis and DNA techniques and applications, and on its B.Sc.F.S. offering.

These are the international student eligibility for the Master of Science in Forensic Science in Canada

B.Sc. honours (a four year undergraduate bachelors) degree;

  • Minimum B+ (77%) or equivalent in the work of the last four semesters or the last two undergraduate years (last ten full credits)
  • Experience in Forensic Science or Undergraduate courses relating to Forensic Science, or willing to take such courses, usually before official admission
  • Some applicants may be provided with a conditional acceptance and will be required to successfully complete a qualifying course*, Advanced Fundamentals in Forensic Science, prior to admission.

A GRE test score is not required for admission into this program.Other Documents Required are:

  • Transcripts(transcripts must include a grading scale or legend.)
  • Two Letters of Reference
  • Plan of Study(Typically 1-2 pages, outlining applicant's objectives in a graduate program. Any specific research interests (if known), relevant experiences, and/or career aspirations can be included. The potential supervisor should be identified in your plan of study.)
  • A Writing Sample(Submit a sample of your writing of about 20 pages or less. Writing samples preferred format is PDF.)
  • Proof of Citizenship (ie. copy of passport or birth certificate) will be requested, only if an offer of admission is made.
