Detailed Information of Bachelor of Media Arts in Canada at University of Fraser Valley

Program Overview for Bachelor of Media Arts in Canada:

UFV's Bachelor of Media Arts prepares you for the creative production of digital and interactive media, one of the fastest-growing industries in British Columbia today. This program aims to provide you with digital and computational design skills and work in creative teams. In addition to learning traditional creative subject techniques and strategies, you can also develop the ability to master new software and new technologies independently.

In a fast-paced industry, self-learning ability is the key. In this industry, new jobs may not yet have a job title. The plan emphasizes the need for practical experience. As part of your degree, you will complete a professional practical course to identify and market your skills in an industry where teamwork and creativity are important. In your final year, your study ends with two large-scale project courses, where you can apply your skills to community organizations under the supervision of instructors.

Within the scope of your degree, you can flexibly focus on your personal interests and career goals by choosing one of five media arts majors:

  • Applied Interactive Media
  • Digital Arts
  • Interactive Media Leadership
  • Media and Performance
  • Research of screen

Career Expectations:

According to Creative BC, British Columbia has one of the world's largest and most advanced digital and interactive entertainment groups. It is also known as a virtual reality content creation center in Canada. In fact, the digital and interactive media industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in British Columbia. It is increasing at an annual rate of 11%. The average salary in this industry is $ 84,000, and sales are $ 2.3 billion.

The main challenge for the industry is to attract and retain technical talent. Therefore, young content creators and creative entrepreneurs have many opportunities, whether as freelancers or working for a company or client. Programmers, user experience, web and graphic designers, illustrators, writers, multimedia and special effects artists, project and production managers, video producers, performers, marketers, and animation and video game designers all have job opportunities.

Because all kinds of companies need the services of talented content providers, media arts graduates can choose the most attractive type of company, whether it is a start-up company, agency, non-profit organization, or multinational company.
