Mathematics is the language of quantitative systems and is essential for anyone who wishes to acquire scientific knowledge. Graduates of the program will become confident mathematical thinkers satisfied with abstraction and have received training in constructing quantitative models of complex problems in the framework.
The program's mission is to let students understand the broad prospects of advanced mathematical concepts and applications, which are beyond the first year of calculus introduction. The program aims not only to develop problem-solving skills but also to develop critical thinking and writing skills. Graduates of this program will have extensive exposure to pure mathematics and applied mathematics (including statistics), so they will be fully prepared to enter the job market immediately or continue to study at the graduate level.
Mathematics graduates can find jobs in almost any field that requires comfort and quantitative reasoning: computer science, finance (including banking and insurance), government, actuarial science, teaching, and research. In addition, there are graduate opportunities in mathematics and related disciplines: engineering, business, economics, finance, computer science, and law.
The Bachelor of Arts with a Minor in Mathematics is intended as part of a double award or a Bachelor of Arts major/minor combination.
