Program Overview for Music MMus, Master's in Canada:

The School of Music offers the Master of Music (MMus) and the MA in Music. There are two streams: one in performance, the other being musical research.

Performance studies are offered in piano, voice, orchestral instruments, and guitar.

The School of Music participates in collaborative programs in Feminist and Gender Studies and in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the master's level (MA only).

Candidates are required to have one of the following: A BMus. A four-year honours BA in music. A four-year BA with a major in music. Or an equivalent degree or diploma. A 75 percent (B+) average is required for the undergraduate degree or diploma. Other Documents:

  • Resume (must include chronological academic history and relevant instrument for the performance option)
  • Perform an audition -performance option Porfolio of compositions -composition option (two to three scores)
  • Please note that non required admission documents will not be consulted, conserved or returned to the student. These documents will be destroyed according to our administrative procedures.
  • Recommendation Letter (2)

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for Music MMus, Master's in Canada: are:

  • TOEFL(ibt): 93
  • IELTS(academic): 6.5
N.B: ELP is not mandatory for all international students. You could apply without ELP if your previous degree's medium of instruction were in English. Students of Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, for example, are not required to take the ELP test.

The differential tuition fee exemption cannot be combined with the Education Bursary for International Master’s Students or the International Doctoral Scholarship.
