The Sobey School of Business Master of Finance (MFin) program is challenging, demanding, and rigorous. You will acquire the strategic financial skills required by employers around the world. Sobey MFin effectively prepares graduates for their careers:

The program will thoroughly prepare you for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)® exams. You will have the tools and confidence to achieve career success in a highly competitive field in just one year. The Sobey MFin program is a formal CFA® Affiliate.

Our 12-month intensive course will cover key topics from microeconomics to business strategy, corporate finance, and risk management. Our course is modular, so you will build a solid knowledge base and then develop it logically and structured through the course.

Our Master of Finance program is recognized by the CFA Institute. The CFA title represents the gold standard for financial professionals. This recognition acknowledges that our program contains a large portion of the CFA Program Candidate Knowledge System (CBOK), including the CFA Institute's Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. We do our best to prepare MFin students for the CFA designation.

The eligibility for Master of Finance in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

A four-year university degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science, economics, or other mathematical disciplines with an overall minimum average of B;

An average score across all quantitative courses of:

  • 75% for applicants with engineering, physics, computer science, and mathematics degrees
  • 80% for applicants with business degrees
  • 85% for applicants with economics and international trade degrees

  • A satisfactory score on the GMAT will be considered an asset
  • A current CV/Resume
  • Transcripts: We will accept uploaded unofficial transcripts for evaluation purposes. Applicants must upload a grading scale with their unofficial transcripts. Successful applicants will be required to submit official final transcripts. 
  • Two (2) Recommendation Forms, one of which should be from an academic source.
