Program Overview for Bachelor in Material Art & Design in Canada:

In the Material Art & Design program, you will learn how to create jewellery, textiles and ceramics as a professional studio artist or designer. You’ll focus on making your own designs and will learn the critical and business skills you’ll need to succeed.

In this program, you can choose to focus on textiles or jewellery/metalsmithing. You can also take electives in ceramics, wearable form, and wearable technology. Program instructors are top textile, jewellery and ceramics artists and designers.

The eligibility for Bachelor in Material Art & Design in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

For Ontario high school students, a minimum overall average of 70%; Portfolio (samples of your work and a visual representation of who you are); Statement of Intent; Official transcripts;

For international students, Secondary School Graduation is equivalent to Grade 12 in Ontario with an overall average of B or 70% numeric equivalent in the final year and If you are applying from a country or school system with English as the official language of instruction, a minimum grade of B or 70% numeric equivalent in English 12 or equivalent course is required.

You also need

  • Statement of Intent (required for all programs) and Portfolio (required for all studio BFA, BDes programs) or Writing sample (required for the BA in Visual and Critical Studies)
  • Official transcripts
  • English Language Proficiency Test results (if required)

If you focus on jewelry and goldsmithing, you will use metal and other materials to make your own sculptures and fine jewelry. You will also learn how to combine traditional manufacturing and casting methods with computer-aided design and manufacturing.
