Program Overview for Bachelor in Drawing & Painting in Canada:

In the Drawing & Painting program, you’ll learn to become a creative and engaged artist. You can concentrate on your painting studio skills and study art theory, history and contemporary social issues. You’ll learn to speak and write about your artwork in various formats. A wide variety of options for courses are available that focus in digital, landscape, figurative and abstract painting. 

Your instructors will also encourage you to explore new forms of digital artmaking, installations, and experimental approaches to painting. The instructors are professional artists who share their career advice and provide one-on-one, in-depth, feedback on your progress.  You’ll have many opportunities to present your work professionally in public exhibitions. 

The eligibility for Bachelor in Drawing & Painting in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD); Grade 12 U English (ENG4U or EAE4U) with a minimum final grade of 70%; A total of at least six Grade 12 U or M level courses (including ENG4U or EAE4U) with a minimum overall academic average of 70%;

Secondary School Graduation equivalent to Grade 12 in Ontario with an overall average of B or 70% numeric equivalent in the final year and If you are applying from a country or school system with English as the official language of instruction, a minimum grade of B or 70% numeric equivalent in English 12 or equivalent course is required. 

You also need

  • Statement of Intent (required for all programs) and Portfolio (required for all studio BFA, BDes programs) or Writing sample (required for the BA in Visual and Critical Studies)
  • Official transcripts
  • English Language Proficiency Test results (if required)

Drawing and painting enroll freshmen directly into the program. The portfolio of applicants who choose this specialty will be reviewed by the School of Painting and Drawing, since the number of direct access spaces is limited. Applicants who do not accept direct admission will be considered for the first-year general course.
