The Science Ambassador Scholarship in USA: A full–tuition scholarship for a woman in science, technology, engineering, or math. Funded by Cards Against Humanity

Application Criteria for The Science Ambassador Scholarship in USA

The applications for this academic year will open soon. To apply, create a three-minute instructional video in which you explain a STEM topic that interests you. To apply, you must be a senior in high school or an undergraduate college student. Check out our prior winners to see samples of videos we've enjoyed in the past. Your video should have the following elements:

  1. Not a personal statement, but a mini–lecture. Pretend you're a professor addressing a group of students. Give us something to think about.
  2. The essay should be clear, imaginative, accurate, and show your enthusiasm for the subject. We place a premium on unique, distinctive approaches to themes. Your video doesn't have to be flashy or high–tech to be effective. The cost of production is not a consideration.
  3. The video should be no more than three minutes long. There are no exceptions!
  4. It doesn't have to be about your subject of study; it may be about any STEM issue. Choose a topic that interests and thrills you. We don't need to know about the most recent scientific developments (unless that's your thing).
  5. It's scientifically correct. We strongly advise you to cite the sources you utilized to learn about your subject. This should ideally be included in a slide or frame at the end of your video.
  6. I put it on YouTube and made it public. There are no exceptions!

Please keep in mind that leading by example is an important part of becoming a science communicator. Please film your video in a way that adheres with your local COVID-19 safety requirements, if applicable.

Applications will be reviewed and finalists will be chosen by an advisory group of women with advanced degrees who work in a variety of STEM disciplines. Finalists will be contacted in early of this year and will be invited to submit further materials in the following stage.
