NACE Foundation’s Scholarship Program in USA: A maximum amount of $10,000 per student (excluding Travel Assistance) will be awarded in any given year.

The NACE Foundation Scholarship Program was established to promote research in corrosion science and engineering, to recognize academic excellence, and to help deserving students who demonstrate motivation for success and become contributors to the corrosion industry. The application process is open from September 1st to January 1st of the following year. The NACE Foundation provides students with various scholarships funded by donations from individual members, NACE departments and regions, companies and other non-profit entities. Application Criteria for NACE Foundation’s Scholarship Program in USA


  • Recipients of the NACE Foundation Scholarship will be recognized at the NACE Annual Meeting in March of each year. The recipient is strongly encouraged to attend the meeting in person to thank you.
  • NACE Foundation scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for travel assistance to subsidize their travel expenses to the annual meeting to receive the award in person.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time college / university. Students enrolled in a 2-year or junior college are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants can apply for as many scholarships as possible, but in any given year, each student can receive a maximum of US$10,000 (excluding travel assistance).
  • Once a candidate reaches the maximum limit of $10,000, the candidate's remaining applications (if any) will not be considered by subsequent selection committees. If a candidate applies for and receives a personal scholarship of more than US$10,000, the candidate will be excluded from consideration for all subsequent scholarships.
  • All scholarships are paid directly to the college or university where the recipient is located, and can only be used for educational expenses. Expenses include but are not limited to: tuition, miscellaneous fees, books, supplies and equipment required for courses in educational institutions.
  • The application must be completed by the students themselves, using the official application and recommendation form provided by the NACE Foundation.
  • NACE academic scholarships are not intended to replace subsidies or other financial support provided by industry, universities, or other organizations for the education of students.
  • Applicants must submit a complete application copy for each scholarship. This includes all information that the selection committee must consider (except for the recommendation form sent directly to the NACE Foundation).
  • Previous applicants and grantees are eligible to reapply every year in open competition with new applicants.
  • After accepting the scholarship, all scholarship recipients must submit their color photographs to the NACE Foundation for publicity purposes.
  • All scholarship recipients must submit a written follow-up report to the NACE Foundation within one year of receiving the scholarship, explaining how the funds are used and how the scholarship helps them receive an education.
  • Members of the selection committee or family members of the NACE Foundation staff are not eligible to apply. If the selected recipient is not eligible, the NACE Foundation may select an alternate recipient for each scholarship.
  • The NACE Foundation reserves the right not to grant any or all scholarships in a specific year.
  • All applicants must live and study at a college/university in a country/region that NACE International and NACE Foundation can legally support. Any country sanctioned by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (Www.treas.gov/offices/enforcement/ofac/) or individuals listed as Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) or blocked persons are not considered.
  • All applicants will receive notification of their application status via email by mid-February. Applicants who receive scholarships through the NACE Foundation must submit their written acceptance of the scholarship and notify the NACE Foundation as soon as possible after receiving the notification that they intend to participate in the annual NACE meeting.
  • NACE Foundation scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for travel assistance to supplement their travel to the annual meeting to receive the award in person.
