Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship in USA: The scholarship payment of €7,000 (issued in the form of bank transfer) can be spent on tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for the applicants' classes at their primary university.

As part of our commitment, we have partnered with the non-profit organization Employability to help students with disabilities pursue promising education and careers.

Application Criteria for Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship in USA


  • Applicants must be university students studying computer science, computer engineering, informatics, or a closely related technical field at a university in Europe or Israel with a disability.
  • Applicants must be enrolled as full-time or part-time students for the 2021-2022 academic year.
  • Applicants must intend to be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student at a university in Europe or Israel for the 2021-2022 academic year.
  • Applicants must maintain a strong academic record.
  • Applicants must exemplify leadership and a passion for Computer Science and technology.
  • Applicants must be 18 year of age or older as of 27 September 2021.
  • Persons who are (1) residents of embargoed countries, (2) ordinarily residents in embargoed countries, or (3) otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions programs are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Selection for Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship in USA!


Each application will be evaluated and scored based on the following criteria:

  • demonstration of passion to computer science;
  • academic merit; and
  • demonstration of leadership skills (the “Criteria”).

Each application that meets the Criteria will be reviewed by Google in accordance with the Criteria by an internal panel of Google judges, and the best 10 applications (as assessed by the panel of judges in their sole discretion against the Criteria) will be successful.

What are the characteristics of disability?

Disability is defined as a long-term or recurring problem that affects one or more important activities that others may consider to be daily functions. The definition also includes perceptions of the existence of disabilities. 

Can international students apply?

If you are currently studying at a university in Europe and meet our scholarship eligibility criteria, you can apply. (1) Residents of embargoed countries, (2) habitual residents of embargoed countries, or (3) persons prohibited by applicable export control and sanctions programs are not eligible to participate in scholarships. 

There is no bachelor's or master's degree in our country. I can apply?

We know that some countries do not offer bachelor's or master's degrees (like "Civilingenjör Datateknik" in Sweden, "Diplomstudiengang Informatik" in Germany, etc.). When completing the online application form, choose the title that best reflects your level.

I don’t have a major in computer science or computer engineering. Can I apply?

The Disabled Student Scholarship is dedicated to supporting students who are studying computer science, computer engineering, or specializing in closely related technical fields, which include at least three of the following core computer science courses: algorithms, coding, data structures, and system operations. 

Does this scholarship allow for distance/online study?

Yes, as long as it is from an accredited university and you are earning a bachelor, master or doctorate degree.

Application Process:

How do I apply?

We do not have a physical application form. Complete the online application. If you are a new user, you need to register. If you are already registered, just log in. You will also be required to submit an electronic version of your resume, essay response, transcript, and the name and email of your referee. Scan your transcript electronically (PDF format is preferred). 

Can I send my application package by regular mail?

No, all supporting documents will be submitted electronically through the online application form. 

What format should I use to send my files?

All applications must be submitted in PDF, Google Docs or .doc format. We cannot accept requests not submitted in these formats. 

How do I know if my application has been received?

Once your application is completed and submitted online, you will receive an email notification. 

The deadline for applications is December 5, 11:59 PM GMT. 

Can I submit an application in a language other than English?

All Google scholarship review processes for students with disabilities are conducted in English. Submit all application documents in English; we are temporarily unable to consider applications in other languages. 

If I am selected, how will the funds be allocated to me?

Google will allocate the scholarship funds directly to you to pay for tuition and education-related expenses.

Can international students apply?

I have no major in computer science or computer engineering. I can apply?

If I am selected, how will the funds be allocated to me?

Transcript and resume: 

Do I need to send an official copy of the transcript? We require all applicants to provide official transcripts. What are the characteristics of the official copy of the transcript?

Official transcripts are documents authorized and issued by your university to certify your academic performance. The official transcript must include a description of your grades and an explanation of your university grading scale. If you have not received results from the previous semester, please send the latest transcript you have. 

How can I provide an English translation of the transcript when my university does not issue an English transcript?

Upload the original non-English transcript and the English translation of your transcript. Allow your translation to be confirmed by the official university institution (such as the dean or the rector). 

I am in the first year of my degree, so I have not completed the first year exam and I do not have the academic record for this course. What must I do?

In this case, you can use your academic results from your most recent and highest form of education (ie, high school academic performance). 

As a doctoral student, I don't have any academic records. What must I do?

Instead, doctoral students must upload transcripts of bachelor's and master's degrees. 

How can I show excellent academic performance if my university does not have a first-class honors degree or grading system?

We know that it is difficult to certify excellent academic performance in some countries/regions. We are looking for applicants with outstanding academic performance in their universities. Good examples include serving as assistant professors, students participating in research practice, etc. 

What kind of leadership activities should I include in my resume?

List any examples of your leadership in the technical community at large. This may include teaching, mentoring, lecturing, mentoring, organizing summits, conferences or seminars, supporting other students with disabilities in the field, or contributing to open source projects. Tell us about your impact on the community. 

Essay:

For essay questions, suggest 400,600 words per question. How strict is this requirement? Although 400 600 is only a guide, we recommend that you adhere to the word limit as strictly as possible. 

Letter of recommendation:

How do I send a letter of recommendation?

The recommendation letter will be sent directly by your recommender. You must enter the name and email of your referee in the online application. Your sender will receive an email generated by the online application, which includes further instructions on how to upload the letter of recommendation in the online application. 

I cannot get the recommendation of my current university course/I feel that my current professor does not know me well enough to be my reference. What do I do?

If you cannot get a recommendation from your current university, you can use someone else. This person should know you well enough to comment on your skills. Ideally, from a faculty member or mentor who can comment on your work.
