Youthlinc Utah Young Humanitarian Award in USA: One outstanding high school student and one outstanding college student will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship. One high school student and one college student will each receive a $3,000 college scholarship. Three high school students and three college students will each receive a $1,000 college scholarship for a total of $22,000 in scholarship awards to students who are working to make a difference wherever and however they can.

Application Criteria for Youthlinc Utah Young Humanitarian Award in USA


Applicants must be a Junior or Senior in a Utah high school or must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate college or university program in the state of Utah. Graduate students are not eligible for this award. Once you begin the online application, you will not have an opportunity to save your work to return later, so please be prepared to fill out the application in its entirety once you have started the application process.

Transcripts:

Upload Transcripts from your educational institution as proof of your enrollment at a Utah school.  Transcripts are requested only as proof of enrollment. The Award recognizes service, not GPA. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted.

Service Resume:

Create a one page resume describing your service leadership experience, community involvement, and recognition.

First Essay:

Please answer the following essay question in 2 pages or less. Specific examples and clear expression are more important than length. [Can be submitted as a file upload or text box]

How did the events of 2020 change the way you served others in your community?

Second Essay:

Please answer the following essay question in 2 pages or less. Specific examples and clear expression are more important than length. [Can be submitted as a file upload or text box]

Reflecting on service experiences you have been involved in, describe what made this service meaningful to you and give examples of the leadership role you took. How did this service impact those around you? 

Recommendation:

To complete your application, we must receive two letters of recommendation from people who are very familiar with your service.

Media will not be used in application judging, and will only be used in promotional materials. 

Applicants will be asked to submit a headshot, and instagram handle (if applicable)

Applicants then have the option of submitting:

  • Photo and 200 word story of your most meaningful service experience

AND/OR

  • 1-2 minute video talking about your most meaningful service experience.
