REAL LIFE SCHOLARSHIP in USA: Scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000.
MISSION: Real Life is a peer mentor program whose life skills courses benefit refugee and immigrant youth, Youthlinc students of the year of service, and other community volunteers in the Salt Lake area.
Courses: Real-life courses focus on financial literacy, career / career / college exploration, English language practice, nutrition, cultural exchange, physical and mental health, civic engagement, and artistic expression. Youthlinc employees, students and partners collaborate to develop project-based courses with a focus on building friendships.
Meeting Real Life needs focuses on supporting young refugee and immigrant youth who experience various problems starting a new life in Utah. These young people face obstacles in language, culture, economy and education. There are not many extracurricular activities designed to meet these challenges. Real Life provides fascinating interactive education and "real life" courses and activities that will help refugee youths become successful adults and contribute to society.
In addition, Real Life provides unique leadership opportunities for youth in Utah. Various high school and college students design and teach courses and activities together with well-trained college interns. Our student volunteers are guided and supervised by the project leader. Interns will invest more than 200 hours a year to oversee the site, support project leaders in management, create courses, teach, and help students develop life skills.
