Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship in USA: Scholarship awards range from $1,500 to $6,000 and must be used for costs relating to tuition, fees and books associated with attending school full-time.

The foundation provides scholarship opportunities for undergraduates engaged in material handling, logistics or supply chain careers. Students must clearly demonstrate dedication to excellence, strong leadership skills, potential for future growth as a leader, and persistence in education. Traditional college students and employees, as well as family members of industry associations and member companies, can apply for one of the many scholarships offered by the foundation.

The scholarship ranges from US$1,500 to US$6,000 and must be used to pay for tuition, fees, and books-related expenses related to attending a full-time school. The application allows students to compete for one of the many scholarships offered by the foundation. The scholarship is a one-year award, and previous winners can reapply every year if they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.

Application Criteria for Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship in USA


Undergraduate students from programs listed below that have a focus on material handling, logistics and/or supply chain management are encouraged to apply.

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Industrial Distribution
  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science related to Material Handling
  • Business & Management related to Material Handling or Supply Chain Management

Student Eligibility:

For this academic term, the following students are eligible to apply:

  • Undergraduate students pursuing a material handling, logistics or supply chain career enrolled full time at a qualified college or university in a target program (see list above). Undergraduate students may be classified as freshman, sophomore, junior or senior for the Fall 2021 term to be eligible.
  • Enrolled at any non-profit college or university in the United States accredited by the Council for Higher Education.
  • All applicants must be full-time students with a “B” grade point average or above in their major.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in school for the entire academic year without interruption barring illness, emergency, or military service.
  • Scholarship awards cannot be used for study abroad programs/semesters.

Instructions to apply for scholarships

The applicant must first be nominated by teachers, teachers, employers (direct supervisors / managers or superior organizations). Students must register and request registering https://mhefi.smappy.org and enter their email address.

When an email is sent to the recommendation, and the recommendation form is complete, an email to the site will be sent to mark the recommended complex to notify them to start the scholarship application process. Note that students must be recommended first before they can complete a scholarship application and send a scholarship application. An application allows students to compete for one of the many available scholarships, including the HOWARD BERNSTEIN Fund Scholarships.  

Letters of recommendation are no longer required with the nomination process.

The official school transcript and the student’s current curriculum are also required when applying. The school must send the official transcript with a printable secure download link via email to dvarner@mhi.org or via regular mail directly from the school or transcript organization to Donna Varner, MHEFI, 8720 Red Oak Blvd., Suite 201, Charlotte, NC 28217.

Freshmen should request a transcript from their previous high school. Please note that we will not directly accept student transcripts, as these documents cannot be certified.
