US citizens admitted to a TRU undergraduate program of two [2] years or longer are eligible for an automatic scholarship of CAD$2,000 per student, as follows:

• First CAD$1,000 based on Grade 12 GPA of 73% (B grade) or higher (Assessed by international admissions).
• Second CAD$1,000 based on TRU first semester grades/GPA of 73% (B grade) or higher (assessed by Student Awards).

Three other important facts to know:

• US students are eligible to apply for all TRU programs based scholarships and academic awards after their first semester.
• TRU is designated for US veteran funding through the Department of Veteran Affairs.
• TRU does not have Title IV designation with the US Department of Education, and is therefore not currently eligible for US direct student loans, including Pell Grants.

Legendary Mexican football star Jorge Campos and Thompson Rivers University have teamed up to create a new scholarship program for students from Mexico.The Jorge Campos Award provides outstanding students with full tuition for a year of study at Thompson Rivers, a leading study destination in Canada for students from around the world.

The scholarship is open only to Mexican citizens currently enrolled in a full-time program of studies in Mexico. In addition, applicants must:

• Be at least 17 years of age
• Have graduated from secondary school
• Have a minimum average of 85% in the last year or last two years of study
• Maintain a minimum average of 70% during your studies at TRU

Admission Criteria

To be eligible, you must:

• be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• be a new student* admitted to a campus-based degree, diploma, or eight-month ladderable certificate
• *Applicants may have previously completed up to 12 TRU undergraduate credits on a part-time basis. Applicants may have completed post-secondary study prior to starting at TRU, but cannot possess a post-secondary credential.
• meet the minimum academic requirement of a 70% average in Grade 12 courses (all courses included). Similar Grade 11 courses may be substituted where Grade 12 courses are in progress. Where prior post-secondary has been completed, a 3.00 GPA (on the 4.33 scale) or equivalent is required.

Ten of these awards are regional and only available to students who have graduated from secondary schools within the TRU region,** but outside the city of Kamloops.

• be a first time TRU student who has never previously attended a college or university (except for up to 12 credits on a part-time basis)
• be entering a TRU campus program of two years or longer
• meet the minimum academic requirement of an 80% average based on grades in the best four academic Grade 12 courses including English Studies 12

The following six scholarships are covered by a single, general application. Applicants are automatically considered for all six scholarships.

Alvin & Lydia Grunert Entrance Scholarship

1 award valued at $30,000 (over four years, renewable)

The Alvin & Lydia Grunert Entrance Scholarship recognizes documented exemplary leadership and community service combined with solid academic performance based on secondary school averages in the core subjects.

TRU Ambassador's Entrance Scholarship

Minimum of 6 awards of up to $22,000 (eight funded semesters over four years of tuition & fees)

The Ambassador's Entrance Scholarship recognizes documented exemplary leadership and community service combined with solid academic performance based on secondary school averages in the core subjects. Students offered this scholarship may also accept the responsibility of student leadership activities during the academic year.

TRU Leadership Entrance Scholarship

Minimum of 15 awards of up to $5,000 each (two funded semesters of tuition & fees)

The Leadership Entrance Scholarship recognizes documented exemplary leadership and community service combined with solid academic performance based on secondary school averages in the core subjects.

TRU President's Entrance Scholarship

Minimum of 15 awards of up to $5,000 each (two funded semesters of tuition & fees)

The TRU President's Entrance Scholarship recognizes student academic excellence based on admission averages in the top four Grade 12 academic courses, including an academic English (the equivalent Grade 11 academic subject will be used in each case where a Grade 12 course is in progress).

TRU Community Engagement Entrance Scholarship

Minimum of 15 awards valued at $2,000 each

The Community Engagement Entrance Scholarship recognizes documented community service combined with solid academic performance based on secondary school averages in the core subjects.

TRU Relocation Entrance Scholarship

15 awards valued at $500 each

These scholarships will be awarded to entrance scholarship recipients who live a significant distance from Kamloops and must re-locate in order to attend TRU. Consideration is automatic and no separate application is required.

TRU has a very limited number of undergraduate entrance bursaries available for resilient students who:

• are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and
• have been admitted to a campus degree or diploma program, and
• will study full-time (minimum 9 undergraduate credits per term), but
• will face financial adversity even after accessing student loans & grants.
