he Master of Arts in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (MA NRES) offers students the opportunity to pursue studies in the social or humanities dimensions of human-environment interactions, including historical and contemporary resource and environmental issues. It encourages the study of the social, cultural, ethical, economic and political dynamics of resource and land use, and environmental change.

Students choose from the following areas of study:

  • Geography
  • Environmental Studies
  • Outdoor Recreation, Conservation and Tourism

A four-year (120 credit hours) Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution. Grade point average of at least 3.00 (B) in the work of the last 60 credit hours (approximately the last two years). A Baccalaureate degree is required for entry. The minimum GPA of 3.00 (B) is based on the UNBC 4.33 scale. The GPA from sending institutions will be assessed and converted to the UNBC scale when being considered for admission.Other Admission Requirements:

  • Statement of Academic Interests: Your academic interests and ambitions, reasons for applying, and a tentative selection of courses for the program you intend to take
  • Proposed Supervisor’s Name
  • Evidence of post-secondary education including official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • Names/Email Address Information for Three (3) Referees. Two of the three references must be Academic. Applicants may submit a 4th reference letter from their proposed supervisor under “Other Documentation”
