The Master of Management (MM) program provides non-business students with the skills and understanding necessary to make effective contributions to various organizations (public, private, for-profit, non-profit) to prepare for graduate employment. When combined with previous business courses completed by students during the undergraduate course, the MM course covers several core business disciplines while providing students with several hard and soft skills necessary to work effectively.
It also includes integration, experience, and collaborative, contextual learning in interdisciplinary teams and mandatory work experience requirements related to the organization.
The program is open to students who meet graduate school entry requirements and have completed five introductory business courses as part of their undergraduate studies.
Students who complete the UVic Business Minor can opt for the MM course of their choice. The learning outcomes should demonstrate the knowledge of basic business disciplines and the complex and dynamic political, environmental and social backgrounds of various organizational operations; apply organizational tools, models, and principles comprehensively to identify and solve complex organizational problems; effectively conduct oral presentations Communicate with writing; collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary and team environment; develop workplace capabilities through supervised employment.
The program is based on undergraduate courses, enabling students to complete all required courses and a period of work experience within twelve months and prepare for an effective transition to full-time work. In addition to the elements of cooperation and career preparation, MM students can also participate in the Gustavson mentor program, which connects them one-on-one with experienced managers from the business world.
