Program Overview for Master of Business Administration in Canada:

Our MBA teaches you new ways to look at innovation, management, and leadership. You will learn to initiate change with a community of creative thinkers. You will complete a comprehensive project or research project. The course offers:

The eligibility for Master of Business Administration in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

All applicants to the MBA Program must meet or exceed the requirements for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies (see Admission to Regular Master’s Degree Programs). The program does not require any academic background in business or economics. Work experience in any professional or managerial capacity is considered a major asset.

Normally, successful applicants to the Daytime MBA program will have two or more years’ full-time professional work experience following their undergraduate degree, and those to the Weekend MBA program will have six or more years’ full-time professional work experience following their undergraduate degree, with two or more years in a managerial role.

Applicants must also submit a valid Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score, two letters of reference, a current résumé, and additional documentation outlined on the admissions website. In situations where an applicant cannot provide a GMAT score, a valid Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) score will be accepted in its place. Applicants with ten or more years of professional experience may submit an Executive Assessment (EA) test in place of the GMAT or GRE.

Applicants are advised that enrolment in this program is limited, and admission is competitive.

Applications after this date will be considered subject to program space. International applicants are encouraged to complete their application at least one month earlier than the above dates to obtain the necessary visas.


N.B: Most universities have specific international admission requirements based on different education systems.

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for Master of Business Administration in Canada: are:

  • TOEFL(ibt): 90
  • IELTS(academic): 6.5
N.B: ELP is not mandatory for all international students. You could apply without ELP if your previous degree's medium of instruction were in English. Students of Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, for example, are not required to take the ELP test.

Eligibility

  • The minimum requirement for funding consideration is an A- average on the last two years of coursework
  • Domestic and international students are considered equally for funding
  • Full-time registration (3.0 units) for UVic Fellowship holders and at least part-time registration (1.5 units) for UVic Graduate Award holders
  • Full-time registration for students registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) is 1.5 units

Every year we employ many graduate students to assist with teaching, research, and lab instruction.

  • Their academic units hire teaching assistants (TAs) to assist with teaching and grading courses. These are unionized, hourly positions.
  • Faculty members hire research assistants (RAs) to help with their research. These roles are sometimes called scientific assistants or laboratory instructors. RA salaries come from faculty members’ research grants. Because of this, RA hours, salary, and other details are worked out between you and the faculty member.

Work-study

The work-study program offers part-time jobs on campus that fit your course schedule.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a full-time student
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Co-operative Education Program (co-op)

UVic is home to the largest graduate co-op program in Canada. You can add a co-op to your master’s or doctoral studies for work experience in your field of study.

  • Already receiving the maximum government student loans available to you
