Detailed Information of Mathematics and Statistics(Phd) in Canada at Memorial University of Newfoundland

Program Overview for Mathematics and Statistics(Phd) in Canada:

Memorial’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the institution’s youngest – half our faculty have been hired since 2005 – and most recognized – 20% of us hold the university's highest rank, University Research Professor.

Although the Department of Mathematics and Statistics has offered graduate degrees for many years, the past decade has seen an explosion of interest in these programs, adding invaluable new voices to the Department's community of researchers.

The PhD programs in Mathematics and in Statistics consist of graduate courses, a two-part comprehensive examination, and a thesis embodying the results of original research of a high calibre. Students are expected to complete the PhD degree requirements in three to four years. Upon completion of the thesis, a final oral examination and defence of thesis must take place.
