Detailed Information of Business Administration (MBA) in Canada at Wilfrid Laurier University

Program Overview for Business Administration (MBA) in Canada:

An MBA is one of the most valuable degrees you can earn. It gives you an experience that will change the way you think forever. We know that finding the best plan for you is crucial, so our goal is to succeed in whatever path you choose. The Lazaridis MBA will provide you with the tools you need to realize your personal definition of success; this is what makes our course unique.

We know that completing an MBA is a big decision. We are here to help you explore the options for choosing your program. We provide information meetings and personal consultations in Waterloo and Toronto to help you make the best decision. The sooner we contact, the closer we will be to realizing that the inner world makes us different.

The Lazaridis Difference

Why is it us and not one of the dozens of other MBA programs across the country? Since 1976, we have been at the forefront in providing innovative professional management courses. We provide the first one-year MBA in Canada, the first alternative part-time weekend format in downtown Toronto, and we pioneered a comprehensive MBA curriculum.

Each of our different courses is designed to provide the best student experience. We used organizational culture and educational methods to make Laurier ranked # 1 in student satisfaction by Maclean's magazine for the past four years. We understand that this is not necessarily what you learned, but how you learn is the key to developing skills and lasting personal growth.

At Lazaridis School, our goal is to provide you with the necessary tools and skills to build your career and succeed on the path you choose. We realize that intellectual agility and personal flexibility are the most critical attributes of our rapidly changing world, rather than completing a one-size-fits-all career plan.

Our focus is to provide real-time education based on practical experience and applicable academic research. Field projects, professional development, international learning opportunities, and hands-on learning practices support course content provided by industry-experienced teachers. We hope that our part-time students can immediately use their experience in the project, and our full-time graduates make positive contributions on the first day of their new positions.

Professional Development and Career Services

To support our academic program, we provide numerous professional development opportunities to assist you in planning the next stages of your career growth:

  • Strategic career consulting to help you in your job search or career advancement planning.
  • Workshops designed to enhance your personal brand-building abilities. Among workshops, themes are recognizing transferable skills, interview preparation, network building, resume writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Alumni panels, industry guest speakers, and employer recruitment events are available to all MBA candidates throughout the program to utilize the extensive Lazaridis alumni community.
  • Alumni employment services are available to all Lazaridis MBA graduates. More than 2,000 immediate job openings come through our career center annually.

Applied Business Research Consulting Project

Gain valuable hands-on experience tackling real-time business issues in the applied business consulting project. You and your team will provide consulting services to client-facing immediate management decisions. More than 800 organizations have participated in the project. With faculty supervision, you will draw upon the knowledge and experience you acquired in the MBA program to work with industry practitioners to help resolve the issues they are currently facing.

Not-for-Profit Practicum

Laurier’s core mission to inspire lives of leadership and purpose reflects a long-standing commitment to community and philanthropic service. A LinkedIn study ranked Laurier graduates #1 in the world in volunteerism. The Lazaridis MBA is proud to continue this tradition and mission. While MBA students often engage in volunteer activities on their own, the MBA program requires all candidates to participate in a field-based community service project at a not-for-profit organization of their choice.

International Study Opportunities

You can take advantage of the Lazaridis MBA’s international education opportunities to immerse yourself in different cultures and business environments.

In our international study course elective, you have the opportunity to participate in a two-week trip to different countries and engage with leading business and government officials to gain valuable insights into foreign business environments. Past host countries have included: South Africa, Spain, India, Turkey, Germany, China, Columbia, Chile, and Vietnam.

International Summer School

During the spring term, you will have the opportunity to attend summer school in a foreign country for elective credit. The term allows you to network with fellow MBA candidates worldwide while gaining valuable insights into business thinking and perspectives in a foreign country.

You can choose to attend the European Summer School in Advanced Management (Essam), Euromed in France, or a summer school destination from a pre-approved list of accredited universities.
