Program Overview for Master of Science in Psychology in Canada:

Dalhousie's MSc Psychology program is not a traditional, stand-alone master's program. For our graduate students, it's just the beginning of the road toward a PhD.

We view our master's program as a fundamental component of the PhD program itself. Our MSc Psychology students are expected to do research in experimental psychology and move on to the PhD program upon completion of their master's degree.

The eligibility for Master of Science in Psychology in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Incoming students must have a 4-year honours bachelor degree from a Canadian University or its equivalent elsewhere. The honours degree should be in the area of intended study with at least a B+ (3.3) average.

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
  • Degree granted by university of recognized standing.

If you are planning to apply for a thesis or research based Master’s or PhD, you might need to find a supervisor before you begin the application process. To find out if securing a supervisor before applying is required or recommended, please check with the graduate program you applying to.
