Program Overview for PhD in Pathology in Canada:
When you enroll in the Department of Pathology’s PhD program, you’re taking a significant step towards a rewarding career in experimental pathology. Not only will you study the essential nature of disease, you’ll also learn a number of experimental approaches and how to design experiments to understand the mechanism of disease.

The eligibility for PhD in Pathology in Canada for both domestic and international student is:
Pre-requisite for acceptance into this programme is an M.Sc. degree in Pathology or other Life Sciences field or an M.D. degree with research experience. Students entering from a B.Sc. would first enter the M.Sc. programme but could transfer to the Ph.D. programme before completing the M.Sc. provided that the student had made satisfactory progress and the project had sufficient scope and depth. PhD candidates are required to pass both a written and oral comprehensive examination midway through their programme. Completion of the programme requires the preparation and oral defense of his/her thesis describing an extensive original investigation. The typical time to completion for a PhD ranges from 4-6 years.

- 2 Academic Reference letters
- Official Undergraduate Transcripts (Please note that all transcripts will ONLY be accepted if received in a signed/sealed envelope from the University/College’s Registrar’s Office.)
- Copy of Graduate Certificate (if graduated)
- English Language test score (if applicable)
- Application fee payment required by Faculty of Graduate Studies

A limited number of scholarships are available to qualified candidates. Our programme, being rather small, is highly competitive. Graduate students may also be supported by scholarships or fellowships from national or specialized granting agencies as well as by research awarded to faculty members.
