Arcadia’s Women and Gender Studies (WGS) program emphasize gender as a critical analysis of academics, education, social relations, cultural expression, and politics. Women and Gender Studies is a major and honors course of the College of Art, and students from all colleges can study the major at WGS or as a second major.
There are four core courses, and the remaining courses are selected from the cross courses offered by the three faculties in turn. This means you will have the opportunity to take courses in various disciplines, and all courses are chosen to include topics and issues related to women and/or gender.
Get Inspired:
In addition to providing students with comprehensive education and critical thinking, reading, and writing skills, there are many careers based on a deep understanding of women and gender. For example, you can work for nonprofits that raise funds for women's causes, provide consultation for women in domestic violence shelters, work for gay rights organizations, address equity issues for the government, resolve balance issues between work and family in the company, human resources, teaching, action, even painting!
There is a myriad of areas where you need to understand the complexity of the genre. If you are interested in teaching, women and gender studies are considered a prerequisite for family studies in some provinces.
