These are the international student eligibility for the MBinf in Bioinformatics in Canada

Students entering the M.Binf. program will have completed an Honours Bachelor’s degree with a minimum admission average of B (75% and higher) in the last two years of full-time equivalent study in one of the following fields:
  • Biology
  • Molecular Biology and Genetics
  • Biochemistry
  • Biophysics
  • Biotechnology
  • Microbiology
  • Food science
  • Agriculture
  • Nutrition
Additionally, students will have completed at least one statistics course at the undergraduate level. Students from undergraduate programs in the physical or computational sciences will be considered for admission if they are considered to have sufficient biological background.

Applications to the M.Binf. program completed by the first deadline will be automatically considered for the Master of Bioinformatics Entrance Scholarship promoting excellence in the M.Binf. program.

Graduate Record Examination (general) is not required. Moreover, you need to submit:
  • Transcripts
  • Recommendation Letter
  • Letter of Intent (Statement of Purpose)
  • CV/Resume

This award was established to promote excellence in the Master of Bioinformatics program. Admission applications received by February 28, for consideration for the fall intake, will be considered automatically for this scholarship. Overall outstanding academic performance in relevant courses for admission into the MBINF program will be considered (e.g. biology, statistics, computer science) along with contributions made to research and the letter of reference that is included with the admission application. The award cannot be held with other scholarships of $15,000 annually or greater. All students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Additionally, M.Binf. students who are approved to extend to a 4th semester are provided a stipend of up to $5000 for that semester.

Note: Most graduate student receive a funding package made up of a number of components. The options may be one or more of the following:
  • Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA)
  • Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)
  • Graduate Service Assistant (GSA)
  • Scholarship (external and/or internal)
