Through the WID Scholars Program, Women in Defense encourage women to pursue careers that support U.S. national security, with a focus on defense or foreign policy.
Since its establishment in 1988, the WID Scholar Program (formerly HORIZONS) has awarded more than $675,000 in bonuses to more than 165 grantees seeking degrees in law, engineering, mathematics, and public policy. Winners should regularly report the impact of the award on their personal and professional lives.
The National Defense Industry Association, National Defense Women and their sponsors proudly invest in high-achieving women to increase the diversity and innovation of the government, academia, and defense industry workforce.
