Joanne Norris Scholarship in USA: One student will be awarded $1,000; (nonrenewable) to be paid directly to their college or university admissions office.
Joanne Norris was an award-winning journalist who worked for publications such as the Redding Record-Searchlight and the Long Beach Press Telegram. Her career began in the 1950s, when there were few female journalists, and she committed her research to going beyond "puff piece" assignments to deeper issues such as sexism, racism, and prejudice.
Joanne knew that true journalism entails looking at a story from every perspective, regardless of where the facts lead, and presenting it with reverence for the truth's unchanging significance.
