The Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science (HACS) offers graduate training at both the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy levels.
The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is granted only upon evidence of general proficiency and of distinctive attainment in a special field. In particular, the candidate must demonstrate an ability for independent investigation, original research or creative scholarship.
This is expected to be presented in a thesis with a degree of literary skill and by an oral examination wherein the candidate exhibits mastery of their field.
The Ph.D. is a research degree and is not conferred by The University of Manitoba solely as a result of coursework study.
