The College of Arts and Sciences provides a Ph.D. in Biomolecular Sciences. Students in this course are generally supervised by faculty and staff in the following departments/fields: Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Mathematics and Informatics, and Physics and Astronomy.

Biomolecular Science is a multidisciplinary course that combines traditional biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, molecular biology, and molecular genetics.

The research in this program aims to study biological processes, organisms, and systems at the molecular level and apply the research to agriculture, biotechnology, and medical problems. Possible personal research projects include nuclear magnetic resonance and X-ray crystallography with atomic resolution of protein structure and function, biologically significant enzyme activity, metabolism, regulation of developmental and stress-related pathways, and pathogenic mechanisms.

Students are required to secure a potential supervisor prior to submitting an application for this program.
