All applicants to a computer science graduate program are automatically considered for financial support. M.Sc. students are normally funded at the rate of $20,000/yr for at least two years. PhD students normally receive $23,000/yr for at least 3 years. Some sources of funding require that the student have a GPA of at least 80% at the time of admission and maintain a GPA of at least 75% for the duration of their funding period. Depending on the source of the funding, students may be required to provide service hours to the department as a lab instructor or marker. Students may also apply for additional service hours to earn additional income. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for external funding such as an NSERC postgraduate scholarship.

In addition to potential funding from your department, there are scholarships and awards available to all eligible students. There are also special programs for international students from China and Mexico.
