To prepare you for career opportunities in the IT field, the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems includes a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge applied in UFV's fully equipped laboratory.
In your freshman and sophomore years, you complete the basic courses to provide you with a broad knowledge and experience foundation to support and maintain personal and network systems. In the third and fourth years, you will gain more technical knowledge and skills, a wider education breadth, and better business training, ready to enter a management position in the information technology field. You may also choose to specialize in one of the following three specialties to hone your skills:

The School of Computing holds two meetings a year with an external advisory committee to track and predict changes and make plans relevant to current and future organizational needs. All students entering the CIS course should have computer skills. This includes understanding how to run programs and manage files in a Windows environment, as well as a basic understanding of the Internet, word processing, and spreadsheets. Students should check with the CIS department about the specific prerequisites required for the initial course.
Technical Requirements:
Students who participate in any computer information system course are strongly encouraged to ensure that they can use personal computers and Internet connections at home, and provide sufficient resources for their learning level. Students can consult the CIS Department of Computer Information Systems Student Association for hardware and software recommendations.

Study abroad in one of more than 20 countries and earn UFV credits at partner universities. Students who use the study abroad program gain a global network of contacts, cultivate cultural awareness, and better prepare for the global market. The cooperative education option provides students in the computer information system project with the opportunity to gain career-related paid work experience in their field of study during their education at UFV.
