Program Overview for Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in Canada:

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry aims to provide you with the principles of the study of matter and the physical world and enable you to apply this knowledge to real-world situations.

As part of this program, you will explore organic and inorganic chemistry and physical and analytical chemistry and how to use them to solve problems and create new opportunities. You will also gain valuable laboratory and research skills, including spectrometry and chromatography. When you ask questions and seek solutions, you can improve your critical thinking skills and communicate your findings to others.

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry gives you the opportunity to:

  • conduct original research from the first year.
  • A lot of hands-on exercises in a fully equipped laboratory.
  • Participate in solving real-world problems, such as reversing climate change, fighting disease, or designing new consumer products.
  • To prepare for postgraduate studies in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, or engineering.

Career expectations:

UFV's chemistry degree makes you competitive in postgraduate studies in chemistry, medicine, pharmacy, biotechnology, veterinary medicine, or chemical engineering. According to WorkBC, chemists enjoy good wages, low unemployment, and stable employment growth.

As a chemistry graduate, you can find a job in the high-tech industry, biotechnology, government laboratories, or manufacturing. You can choose to explore unique opportunities, such as careers in food chemistry, clean energy, or scientific writing. Or, you can look for work in interdisciplinary research or development projects and form a team with other professionals such as biologists, agronomists, geologists, or engineers.
