Are you passionate about social justice? Have you always been interested in social issues? The UFV's Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) prepares you to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities in different and cultural environments. After graduation, you can apply to register with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (RSW). Or choose to continue your studies at UFV and complete a master's degree in social work.
In the third year, after completing 60 college-level credits, enter BSW. Once admitted to the BSW program, you will complete two internships with one of UFV's community partners.
Career Outlook:
British Columbia Labor Market Outlook 2025 identifies social work as a high-opportunity occupation with an excellent projected employment rate. Trained social workers can find jobs in a variety of settings, including child and family services, health and mental health services, substance abuse services, schools, correctional institutions, immigration and placement services, community organizations, law enforcement agencies, welfare management, government agencies and services for women, the disabled and the elderly.
The aging population has led to large numbers of retirees in industry, and the demand for social services for the elderly is increasing.
Students can declare this major after completing 60 general university-level credits by May 1 of the year of application.
