As the field of data science continues to experience tremendous growth, the industry's demand for trained professionals who can solve complex data-related problems is also increasing. At the University of Victoria, our Master of Engineering in Applied Data Science (MADS) program prepares motivated students and IT professionals to work at the forefront of global enterprise data-driven transformation. 

This one-year intensive academic program is jointly offered by the Department of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering. Three consecutive course work are followed by one to three optional cooperation periods. During these cooperation periods, students can obtain practical work experience to supplement their knowledge in the classroom.

The eligibility for Master of Engineering in Applied Data Science in Canada for both domestic and international student is:

Applicants for admission to this program require a bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or related disciplines, normally with first-class standing.

MADS applicants don’t need to find a supervisor. We’ll assign a supervisor based on availability and area of research. 

The MADS program is self-funded, and students pursuing this program should secure appropriate funding before beginning their studies. However, students may be eligible for awards or bursaries.
