A master’s degree from an accredited university or college is required, the applicant must have at least a "B+" average (In exceptional cases, we will consider applicants who only have an undergraduate degree but solely if their grades are truly outstanding). * Please upload a copy of each official transcript to the online application in the language of the issuing university (if you are successfully admitted to our program, each University will need to provide us with official hard copies of all transcripts).

As part of the application process, we ask candidates to provide a Statement of Research and Professional Interests. Please list three referees in the online application form, once this is done, an email is automatically generated advising both the applicant and referees of the submission. The referee will be provided with a link to the online appraisal form. If desired, he/she will also be able to upload and submit a written reference letters as a PDF file.

We are looking at the possibility of some funding relief and are working with our provincial and federal partners to address issues that fall within their purview. Over the coming weeks, we will provide more information to you via and email and on this page as it becomes available regarding available financial supports, including possible government actions in areas such as study/work permits, student loan policies and/or EI eligibility.

Western's Doctoral Funding Guarantee

While at Western, you will want to devote your full energy to the successful completion of your studies, so we want to ensure that stable funding is available to you. Western guarantees minimum annual funding for doctoral students, from all sources, of $13,000 plus tuition.

For doctoral students who start in September 2020 (September 1, 2020 – August 31, 2021), the Doctoral Funding Guarantee for domestic and international students is $19,360.

In addition to the financial support available from federal and provincial sources and research grant support, Western offers a variety of internal awards that are among the best available to outstanding scholars in Canada. Full-time Western graduate students are eligible for support from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, provided they meet the appropriate criteria.

International candidates of exceptional quality are automatically reviewed for admission awards ranging from $10,000 to half tuition. Candidates will be assessed on academic merit and leadership qualities demonstrated through education, activities and work experience. Candidates who are selected to receive a scholarship or award will be notified at the time of the admissions offer.

The Ivey Global Leader Award recognizes high-performing candidates who have demonstrated leadership potential in their previous experience and who will bring valuable international perspectives to the classroom environment. We have ten Ivey Global Leader Awards available at a value of $50,000 CDN each. You must have been born outside of Canada and be residing in Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, or the Caribbean at the time of application. You must also meet our academic admissions standards (GPA and GMAT) as well as demonstrating strong performance in the admissions interview process. Recipients will be determined by the admissions committee.There are other scholarships available for students to finance their study.
