Detailed Information of Scientific computing(Master's) in Canada at Memorial University of Newfoundland

Program Overview for Scientific computing(Master's) in Canada:

Memorial University’s MSc program in Scientific Computing was one of the first in North America, and remains the only such program in Atlantic Canada. Both MSc and PhD programs are now being offered in Scientific Computing. These programs train students in advanced computational techniques and in the application of these techniques to at least one scientific area, such as Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Physics, or Physical Oceanography. Students can expect to gain knowledge and experience in:

  • state-of-the-art numerical methods,
  • high performance computer architectures,
  • use of software development tools for parallel and vector computers,
  • graphics, visualization, and multimedia tools,
  • acquisition, processing, and analysis of large experimental data sets.

These are the international student eligibility for the Scientific computing(Master's) in Canada

Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) with a strong computational orientation, including a number of Computer Science courses; applicants are expected to demonstrate background in the field (e.g., undergraduate BSc thesis, work experience which involved computing in a scientific environment, etc.)

Other Documents Required:

  • Official Transcripts
  • Recommendation Letter(2)
  • Writing Samples (Depends on the program

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for Scientific computing(Master's) in Canada: are:

  • TOEFL(ibt): 80
  • IELTS(academic): 6.5
N.B: ELP is not mandatory for all international students. You could apply without ELP if your previous degree's medium of instruction were in English. Students of Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, for example, are not required to take the ELP test.
