The Faculty of Dentistry, through its Division of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene, offers graduate training to successful applicants holding a DMD degree or its equivalent, in Periodontics as a three-year program aimed at producing clinical specialists with an excellent foundation in clinical, behavioural, and biomedical sciences.
Successful graduates receive a Diploma in Periodontics and Master of Science Degree in Craniofacial Science, and are eligible to take the examination for the Fellowship Examination of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Board Examination.

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies establishes the minimum admission requirements common to all applicants, usually a minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC). The graduate program that you are applying to may have additional requirements. Normally, applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC including one of the following:
- A minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC) in third- and fourth-year courses.
- Academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study.
Alternatively, applicants who do not meet the requirements stated above, but who have had other significant formal training, relevant professional experience, and/or otherwise possess demonstrable knowledge or expertise that would prepare them adequately for successful study in a specific graduate program, may be granted admission on the recommendation of the appropriate graduate program and approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

For international applicants whose citizenship and correspondence address is located in one of the world's 50 least developed countries, as declared by the United Nations. These countries include but are not limited to Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Uganda. Students applying to graduate programs in the Department of Chemistry. The fee is paid for by the department. Seniors: BC residents who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents aged 65 years or over at the time of application.
