Program Overview for Master of Architecture and Master of Landscape Architecture (MARCLA) in Canada:
The dual degree option is a four-year program to pursue the Master of Architecture and the Master of Landscape Architecture at the same time. The dual degree is certified with both the Canadian Architectural Certification Board and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects.
The dual degree program harmonizes architectural design with ecological consciousness to create an inclusive understanding of built and natural environments.
This is a very rigorous course of study leading to graduate professional degrees in both disciplines in a condensed time frame. Entry to the dual degree program is highly competitive and applications are selectively evaluated. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in and some knowledge of architecture and landscape architecture.

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies establishes the minimum admission requirements common to all applicants, usually a minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC). The graduate program that you are applying to may have additional requirements. Normally, applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC including one of the following:
- A minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC) in third- and fourth-year courses.
- Academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study.
Alternatively, applicants who do not meet the requirements stated above, but who have had other significant formal training, relevant professional experience, and/or otherwise possess demonstrable knowledge or expertise that would prepare them adequately for successful study in a specific graduate program, may be granted admission on the recommendation of the appropriate graduate program and approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

International Tuition Awards of max. $3200 for international graduate students in research-oriented master’s and doctoral programs.
For international applicants whose citizenship and correspondence address is located in one of the world's 50 least developed countries, as declared by the United Nations. These countries include but are not limited to Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Uganda. Students applying to graduate programs in the Department of Chemistry. The fee is paid for by the department. Seniors: BC residents who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents aged 65 years or over at the time of application.
