The new Master of Social Work (MSW) course aims to forefront contemporary social work practice. Two years of planning and consultation with stakeholders have changed the vision and execution of our plan.
Our curriculum emphasizes critical reflection practical skills through the continuous integration of knowledge, theory, and practice within a framework that promotes equity, tolerance, reflection, and social justice. We hope that our project graduates will be able to work alongside the people they work with — collaborative, inclusive, considerate, and caring — and stick to what they think is fair.
Relying on the overall framework of social justice, fairness, tolerance, and reflection, our new curriculum aims to provide a fully integrated foundation year for all two-year full-time students to take root in basic and interconnected social work practices.
The program's second year provides you with flexibility and the best options, allowing you to focus your preferences on micro and/or macro practices. Even if they do not participate in the founding year, full-time first-year advanced students will have greater flexibility in choosing learning directions in micro and/or macro practice. All of our RSU programs continue and strengthen our commitment to practice.
Field Education
Field education is a vital aspect of your MSW program. It constitutes a large part of your program and provides an opportunity to integrate social work theory and practice. As part of your field education, you will complete courses with approved agencies that provide micro and/or macro learning opportunities. A qualified agency-based field instructor will provide supervision to help you to develop social work practice skills that reflect your foundational or advanced field education course.
A few international placements are available for students in the two-year full-time program through the International Social Work Program.
