As technology becomes more and more complex, the skills required by the computer industry become more and more complex. Laurier's Master of Applied Computing (MAC) will provide you with an advanced degree in computing and you will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of mobile computing, business computing, data mining, and machine learning.
The MAC program will make you stand out in the job market and demonstrate to employers that you have advanced technical knowledge and can use it to create technical solutions.
BALANCING THEORY AND PRACTICE
Our philosophy is to create a "dream, build" environment in which you can apply theories learned in the classroom and apply them to projects or sites through cooperative internships. Employers noted that people with a traditional master's degree in computer science or computer science have high-level technical knowledge, but lack practical knowledge or experience. We want to equip you with both. Through the use of case studies, project-based courses, and collaborative education opportunities, the MAC course will provide you with practical skills that a theory-focused degree cannot provide.
All MAC students are required to participate in practical algorithm design. In this course, you will acquire the prior knowledge necessary to be able to enter the professional field through additional courses. Topics for these professional courses include mobile computing, data science, and business computing.
