Program Overview for Health Informatics - MHI (Public Health and Health Systems) - ONLINE in Canada:

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples.   • An overall 75% average in a four year undergraduate degree program in a health or related field from a recognized educational institution.
  • Experience in the health informatics field is considered an asset.
  • Evidence of training in logical thinking processes which can be demonstrated by having passed an undergraduate course(s) in areas such as mathematics, statistics, or computer science.
  • Admission is competitive. Meeting the minimum entrance requirements is not a guarantee of admission.
  • Two references, one from an academic source, unless more than five years have elapsed since the applicant last registered in a university course, in which case both references can be from the professional sources. One reference from a relevant paid or volunteeer work experience. At least one of the professional referees must be asked to comment specifically on the applicant's academic abilities.
  • School of Public Health and Health Systems does not consider international applications whose English language proficiency scores fall below the minimum requirements

Effective May 1, 2012, Waterloo’s guideline for minimum funding for incoming full-time master’s students in the first year of a non-co-op Master of Arts (MA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Master of Environmental Studies (MES), Master of Applied Science (MASc), Master of Mathematics (MMATH) (except coursework programs), or Master of Science (MSc) (except coursework programs) is $12,000.

This commitment applies to the first year of full-time enrolment for students in good academic standing. At Waterloo, graduate students may be able to receive funding from various sources such as Teaching Assistantships (TA), Research Assistantships (RA), Graduate Research Studentships (GRS), internal awards, external awards, bursaries and emergency loans.

We offer many funding opportunities to graduate students who demonstrate financial need. The provincial government to encourage excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. It is a merit-based scholarship and awards are available to students in all disciplines of academic study.
