Program Overview for BA in Economics in Canada:

As an economics student, you'll figure out how to use the world’s limited resources to best serve society and you'll do this using solid scientific methods that measure and analyze how people and institutions make economic choices.

Careers and future study:

Our graduates don't end up working in just one field because you can apply the principles of Economics to just about anything – our degrees prepare you to participate in and shape public life and society. You might work as a:

• policy advisor
• politician
• business consultant

Future studies could include programs at the graduate level in economics, public administration, or business administration. Or you might decide to pursue a law degree.

You’ll need to meet the general admission requirements as well as the program specific admission requirements before you can apply.

Minimum admission requirements:

1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
2. A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
3. A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)

Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.

International High School Applicant Requirment Based on Curriculum:

1. Advanced Placement (AP)
2. Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)
3. French Baccalauréat
4. GCE A Level (British System)
5. Home-schooled applicants
6. International Baccalaureate (IB)
7. US Curriculum

You'll be assessed based on the equivalency of your home country.
