Program Overview for BSc/BA/BMgmt in Environment, Sustainability and Society in Canada:

Complex issues like water and energy security, climate change, and environmental degradation touch virtually every person, in every profession, in every part of the world. Studying Environment, Sustainability and Society (ESS) at Dalhousie will allow you to explore the links between complex environmental issues and poverty, globalization, consumption, and urbanization. You’ll gain skills that will make you a leader and change-maker in your chosen career path.

Careers and future study:

The unique interdisciplinary approach of the ESS program prepares you for jobs in virtually any area across society: public service, industry, not-for-profit, and the private sector. Depending on the program you combine your ESS major with, your career options may include:

• urban planner
• architect
• sustainability or corporate social responsibility (CSR) consultant
• marine biologist
• teacher or educator

Due to the flexibility of combining majors in the ESS program, you’ll have a variety of options for future study. This may include pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) or Master of Arts (MA) in topics such as environmental law, management, or sustainable materials architecture. You may also choose to go on to complete a Ph.D.

Minimum admission requirements:

1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
2. A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
3. A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)

Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.

International High School Applicant Requirment Based on Curriculum:

1. Advanced Placement (AP)
2. Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)
3. French Baccalauréat
4. GCE A Level (British System)
5. Home-schooled applicants
6. International Baccalaureate (IB)
7. US Curriculum

You'll be assessed based on the equivalency of your home country.

Every year, Dalhousie awards millions in scholarships and bursaries to support incoming students. More than 2,000 entrance awards are available through our General Entrance Award application.

The international student tuition fees and costs for BSc/BA/BMgmt in Environment, Sustainability and Society in Canada.
