Program Overview for BSc in Kinesiology in Canada:

Are you interested in physical activity, cardiac health, and ergonomics? We’ve got you covered. A kinesiology is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human movement and our program offers you a wide variety of classes taught by professors known for their research. Tailor your degree to your interests with the option to focus on a specific study stream — fitness and lifestyle, ergonomics, or coaching science — or pursue an all-around combination of classes.

Careers and future study:

Job opportunities directly related to kinesiology are available in a variety of sectors. Because of the flexibility and individualization of the program, and the opportunity to take part in interprofessional learning, you’ll be well prepared for the multi-disciplinary approach used in many workplaces. After graduation, you could find yourself in any of the following careers:

• athletic therapist
• personal trainer
• ergonomics consultant
• health and safety manager
• chiropractic assistant

Many students choose to continue their studies by pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in Kinesiology right here at Dalhousie. Your degree in kinesiology also gives you a rich base for further professional studies in fields such as medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, law and more.

You’ll need to meet the general admission requirements as well as the program specific admission requirements before you can apply.

Minimum admission requirements:

1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
2. A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
3. A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)

Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.

International High School Applicant Requirment Based on Curriculum:

1. Advanced Placement (AP)
2. Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)
3. French Baccalauréat
4. GCE A Level (British System)
5. Home-schooled applicants
6. International Baccalaureate (IB)
7. US Curriculum

You'll be assessed based on the equivalency of your home country.
