The global population is growing, demand for food is increasing and the effective management of agricultural resources is becoming increasingly important. A major in Agricultural Economics opens up a variety of opportunities in both the private and public sectors. Career options for Agricultural Economics graduates include:

• economic analyst
• financial/credit advisor
• government or private industry economist
• policy analyst or advisor
• resource manager

An Agricultural Economics major also provides an excellent foundation for you to further your education through graduate or professional programs such as: Agriculture, Resource & Environmental Management and Economics.

You’ll need to meet the general admission requirements as well as the program specific admission requirements before you can apply.

Minimum admission requirements:

1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
2. A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
3. A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)

Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.

International High School Applicant Requirment Based on Curriculum:

1. Advanced Placement (AP)
2. Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)
3. French Baccalauréat
4. GCE A Level (British System)
5. Home-schooled applicants
6. International Baccalaureate (IB)
7. US Curriculum

You'll be assessed based on the equivalency of your home country.
