Program Overview for BSc in Aquaculture in Canada:

Imagine jumping right into a leadership role in one of the most growing industries in Canada upon earning your degree. That's the opportunity you get when you study Aquaculture at Dalhousie’s Agricultural campus in Truro, N.S. This industry includes both food production and environmental and resource conservation.

Careers and future study:

The global demand for seafood is rising and by 2030, more than half the world’s seafood will be farmed. A major in Aquaculture gives you the skills and expertise to tackle this challenge head on with sustainability in mind. Your education will give you access to professional and career opportunities such as:

• algologist or aquarist
• hatchery manager
• aquaculturist
• aquaculture technician
• aquaculture marketing and sales
• animal health product development
• food safety

Future studies may include programs at the graduate level such as a Master of Science (Agriculture) specializing in Aquaculture, or a PhD in Agricultural Sciences.

Minimum admission requirements:

1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
2. A minimum overall average of 70% in five academic Grade 12 courses
3. A final grade of at least 70% in Grade 12 academic English and any other required subject (see list below)

Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average doesn’t guarantee admission. Typically, 70% or higher is necessary in all required subjects for early admission.

If you don’t currently meet these requirements, you may be eligible for one of our upgrading or pathway programs.

International High School Applicant Requirment Based on Curriculum:

1. Advanced Placement (AP)
2. Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)
3. French Baccalauréat
4. GCE A Level (British System)
5. Home-schooled applicants
6. International Baccalaureate (IB)
7. US Curriculum

You'll be assessed based on the equivalency of your home country.
